Halloween-Themed Fine Motor Activities
by Amanda Glassburner, COTALooking for festive ways to work on fine motor skills this Halloween? Try these three activities, perfect for both kids and adults:
1. **Pumpkin Threading**: Cut out felt pumpkins and use shoelaces or string to "sew" around the edges of the pumpkin. This is great for developing hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity.
2. **Spider Web Lacing**: Create a spider web using string or yarn on a paper plate. Adults and kids can practice threading the yarn back and forth through holes punched along the edge of the plate, mimicking a spider’s web. This activity improves bilateral coordination and focus.
3. **Halloween Sensory Bin**: Fill a bin with spooky items like plastic spiders, small pumpkins, and candy corn. Use tweezers or tongs to sort or pick up items from the bin, working those fine motor muscles!
