Therapy Busy Box Pom Pom Activity
by Amanda Glassburner, COTAThis video will walk you through an example of one of the many pom pom activities included in Therapy Busy Box.
1. Use tweezers/clothespins to pick up pom poms one at a time and place into container.
2. Use tweezers/clothespins to put pom poms back into small containers or any other container with a small opening. Complete again but sort by color-coded container.
3. Use tweezers/clothespins to arrange pom poms on the table from smallest to largest then largest to smallest.
4. Separate all pom poms and place on the table to the individual’s left and right. Alternate from left to right hand to pick up one pom pom at a time and return to the container.
Here's a THERAPEUTIC TIP:
If you would like to focus on increasing strength or range of motion, add a wrist weight to the arm in use to add resistance for extra strengthening. You may also place the Busy Box or a container on an elevated surface (such as a shoebox or old delivery box) in order to have the individual reach higher to complete the task. This promotes an increase in range of motion of the arm being used.
